In order to speed up travelers’ security screening at airports, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) in the United States launched the TSA Precheck program. By giving them access to special TSA Precheck lanes, where they normally aren't required to take off their shoes, belts, coats, computers, or liquids from their carry-on baggage, it enables pre-approved travelers to benefit from a simplified security experience. For qualified passengers, this program attempts to improve overall travel experience while simultaneously increasing security efficiency. When applying for TSA PreCheck, travelers must go through a background investigation. If accepted, they are given a Known Traveler Number (KTN), which they can use to reserve seats in TSA PreCheck lanes.
